Enter the Jaguar

Directed by  Dennis Donnelly

Written by Alan  Brennert

Synopsis: When an professor of ornithology is accused of being the infamous jewel thief, the Jaguar, in Morocco, and is now being followed, he hires the Simons to  get to the bottom of it.

When they catch  the guy following the professor, he turns out to be a police officer, Det.  Frank London, assigned to follow 'the Jaguar'. Town tells them to stay out of it.

Of course, they  don't. They go back to the professor, a bit more wary, but unable to  believe their shy, unassuming client is a famous jewel thief. However, a lot of evidence is stacking up against him.

Meanwhile, a beautiful woman appears in the professor's office offering to go into business with the Jaguar. He denies being the Jaguar and she leaves,  thinking he's being coy She later slips him a note, telling him to meet  her.

That night,  Town and London show up at the professor's house and search his house as  the Simons look on. They find stolen jewels under his mattress. He is  immediately arrested.

AJ goes  undercover at a posh club to check out a possible lead on the beautiful mystery woman. He finds a rose he's purchased there has been bugged and  knows he's on to something. Rick and he lead her on a merry chase, using the bug to their advantage.

The professor  is bailed out of jail by the mystery woman and heads home to read. While  there, London reveals he's the Jaguar and is going to kill him. The professor drops a parking stub from the building London says he's taking him to, hoping the Simons will catch on.

The Simons lure  in the woman who tells them London's the Jaguar working in collusion with  his 'victims'. She turns out to be an insurance investigator on the Jaguar case. The Simons find the parking stub and arrive in the nick of time to save the professor.

Review

I liked  this one. I've never seen a show focused on an ornithology professor and I enjoyed the quirkiness of it. I also liked how the is he/isn't he  play-by-play leaves you wondering whether the professor was painfully shy  or the cunning jewel thief

The opening  scene between brothers really made me feel sorry for AJ. What a tax nightmare. They could've done quite an interesting show on being audited, couldn't they?

I've got to  say this is an episode with some of my favorite undercover disguises. First, we have the good ol' Ernie Boyer vs. stuffed shirt routine that  always gets the Simons past the guard in evidence storage. I just have one question - where did Rick get the 'dirty pictures'? Probably better off  not knowing.

The Simons were  particularly dashing as the preppy tennis player and the wealthy cowboy.  They can dress like that as much as they like; they looked  great.

AJ is classic  as the drunken idiot in the bar. I wonder if he learned that act by watching his older brother? ;) Great comedic performance by JP.
